Man United heads to top of Premier League

LONDON (AP)—Defending champion Manchester United moved to the top of the Premier League on Saturday, with Dimitar Berbatov scoring in the last minute for a 1-0 victory at Bolton. Chelsea needed two late goals to edge Stoke 2-1.
Bolton appeared set to hold United to a goalless tie until Berbatov turned home a cross from Carlos Tevez. With Liverpool not playing until Monday when it hosts neighbor Everton, United jumped to the top. United has 47 points from 21 games and Liverpool 46.
Third-place Chelsea (45 from 22) was headed for an embarrassing loss at home to Stoke after Rory Delap put the home side ahead in the 60th minute. But substitute Juliano Belletti tied it in the 88th minute and Frank Lampard netted Chelsea’s winner in injury time.
Fourth-place Aston Villa (44 from 22) won 2-1 at Sunderland on Gareth Barry’s penalty kick in the 80th minute.
Arsenal won 3-1 at Hull City behind goals by Emmanuel Adebayor, Samir Nasri and Nicklas Bendtner. Fifth-place Arsenal is six points off the lead but has played a game more that both Man United and Liverpool.
Manchester City, which has made a potential world record bid of $147 million for AC Milan’s Kaka, edged Wigan 1-0 to rise to 11th. Blackburn beat Newcastle 3-0 and West Bromwich Albion scored a 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough.
GLASGOW, Scotland (AP)—Kris Boyd scored two goals to give him 22 for season, rallying Rangers to a 3-1 victory over Falkirk.
Steve Lovell gave Falkirk a 12th-minute lead before Boyd evened the score on a penalty kick in the final minute of the first half. Both teams had players sent off in the second half before Boyd and Steven Davies scored for Rangers.
Rangers have 49 points, two fewer than Celtic, which visits fifth-place Aberdeen on Sunday. Third-place Dundee United hosts Motherwell in Sunday’s other game.
ATHENS, Greece (AP)—Vassilis Torosidis scored in the first half to help Olympiakos extend its lead in the Greek league with a 1-0 victory at Panserraikos.
